The enemy wasn't men, or women, or the old, or even the dead. It was just bleedin' stupid people, who came in all varieties. And no one had the right to be stupid.
I just finished reading Terry Pratchett's latest Discworl novel, Monstrous Regiment. It's really good. About on par with Small Gods and Hogfather, I'd say. Which means that it's not a front-to-back load of laughs, but that it's saying something really worth saying with a thin veener of comedy on top.
