A salescritter at EMC managed to send a mail that was more than twenty thousand times larger than it needed to be, by sending a single word followed by a number as a PowerPoint presentation. He thereby totally wipes out the old highscore, which has been held by a secretary at Ericsson since 1998 (she sent the word "Cake!" as a BillWord document, managing an unnecessary size increase of ten thousand times).

The tape robot managed to have several different parts of itself stop talking to each other, which pretty effectively made it stop working. A reboot later it's talking to itself again, but the incident sure didn't increase my confidence in the sodding thing.

Ten years ago I started a mailing list about the old British SF series "Blake's 7". It's still around. The address to it has changed once, back in 1995 (the first address still works, actually), and it's on its second list software, but it's still around and still active. Over the years, there's been a little under 55000 posts to it, of which all but a few score are preserved in the list archive.

Ten sodding years. I had no idea what I was getting into when I started it, I can tell you that. And never for a second have I regretted doing it.
