[livejournal.com profile] gnapp just called and said that [livejournal.com profile] jennyaxe has been thrown off a horse, and that she's taken her to a hospital with a possibly fractured arm. She's on her way here to pick me up, so I can take some clothes and reading material to Jenny.

Oh well. As fractured things go, an arm isn't too bad. Compared to, say, a skull or a spine.

well, that arm is broken all right.

I'm finally back from the hospital. Alone, unfortunately :-(

While getting up on a horse, the horse started running away, Jenny fell off and landed on her arm. Her initial hope of "just a cracked bone" must have been before she got her sweater off, because there was no way on Earth one could believe that with the way the arm was looking.

Anyway, a large chip of bone has come loose from the bone in the upper arm, and the radius bone in the lower arm is snapped clean off. It's not that bad, the doctor said, but they will have to operate to fixate the bones properly. Then she'll have to walk around with a bunch of metal rods around her wrist for a few weeks or so. They'll operate tomorrow, and if everything goes as planned she'll come home on Tuesday.

And now I'll go have some, er, lunch, I guess. That's the meal that comes after breakfast, right?
