Over the past few days, I've been reading about and playing around with Ruby on Rails. I've heard about it a lot, but mostly dismissed it as just another overhyped thing.
Except it turns out not to be. Not very, at least. As an experiment project I've been re-implementing an old application of mine, a web-based DVD database. And even with doing it while I'm learning not only the framework but also the programming language the framework is written in, I still had it up to the old level of functionality in only a couple of hours. So far, I'm actually impressed.
