Revolutionary Girl Utena
In a vain attempt to distract myself, I put the Utena Rose Collection 1 DVD into the player and watched a few episodes. I'd seen the first two before, in shoddy over-compressed DivX format, so I knew that the series is more than a little bit on the non-straight side. But, damn. How gay can you get? I'll have to order the second collection DVD too.

The movie, "Adolescence Apocalypse," is even queerer, even though Saiyonji/Touja slashiness is no longer a factor. Have you seen these screenshots from the closing sequence? http://diabolical.nu/utena/gallery/movie/Screen47.jpg
Oh, and I'm plugging this fanvid everywhere, because I'm obsessed with it. ::g:: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/legacy/video.php?v=1462 Evil evil video.
I will stop raving now. Someone on femmeslash told me to see this show, and oh... instant love.

I rather get the impression that the director was tired with people denying the obvious, and decided to make everything very clear for the movie.
So now they just say, "oh, *movie* Anthy and Utena may be in love, but there's no way TV Anthy and Utena are lesbians or anything horrible like that..." ::sigh:: Most of the offcial artwork for the show is Anthy and Utena in a series of romantic poses, but they ignore that, too.
