Resident Evil: Apocalypse

Last night we ([livejournal.com profile] jennyaxe, [livejournal.com profile] jegra and I) went to see Resident Evil: Apocalypse. It was, basically, mindless action fun. Lots of shooting, lots of explosions, quite a few helicopters and no less than two ass-kicking beautiful women. The plot is best ignored completely, the realism level is significantly lower than in the first movie (which is kind of impressive, actually) and the slashiness quotient is also much lower (but, on the plus side, the main slash-object for Alice actually survives the movie).

Short judgment: Reasonable addition to the "Beautiful women kick ass" genre. See it for cheap when you don't have anything better to do.

Ah. Y'see, what I liked about the first one was that it had an actual story, with a plot, and a beginning a middle and an end.

Well, this one has a plot. It just isn't any good. At all. And if you start thinking about the plot you'll soon be thinking things like "What kind of place lets a private company build a huge sodding wall around an entire city?" and then where will you be?

Y'see, I enjoy trashy movies. I absolutely adored the first Resident Evil. But, I still need my trashy movies to have some semblance of story to drive them along, otherwise, I Just get bored watching the pretty fight scenes.

Still wanna see Resident Evil 2 though. :)
