Actually I've always felt that they were quite careful in that episode not to exploit the very obvious. Lets face it - they could have had Sam shag Seth or something....

... but yes re: plot bunnies - my mind went into overdrive on that one and I don't even write fic!!

I'm betting they didn't want to either brush the whole thing over, or deal with the trauma of being raped, basically.
