Sapphire and Steel

The more I see of this series the more I like it. Too bad I only have two Assignments left unwatched...

As I watched Assignment IV, I kept wondering if it'd be possible to make a reasonable roleplaying scenario (and that's "roleplaying" as in sitting around a table talking, not as in computer games or fake LJ journals) out of the series. The main problem would be that the powers of the agents and their enemies are very vaguely specified. Sapphire seems to have a bunch of fairly general detecting/analyzing powers. Steel has strength and some measure of control over temperature. Lead is very resistant to most everything and quite strong. Silver can do weird stuff with machinery. The enemies can do really weird things with light, time and (for some bizarre reason) children's rhymes. Sapphire and Steel also have a fascinating habit of treating normal humans as if they were little more than pets.

Hmm, try suggesting it to Mongoose. The guys over there love their cult TV to tthe point of almost fighting over who got to do the forthcoming B5 game. I'm still hoping that they'll do a B7 game one day in spite of potential lack of comercial viability.

Um, there already is a B7 roleplaying game. I have it in a pile here somewhere... It's partly written by a guy who used to be on the B7 mailing list a few years ago. I think you can still buy the game from Horizon. Although I'd recommend that you don't, since it sucks pretty badly. Grab a copy of Neil's Sevencyclopedia and make up stats for your favourite game system instead. GURPS goes quite well with the general grittiness of B7, I feel.

Hmm, I'll probably hack the una-system again in that case as it worked quite well for the B5 game I ran at Redemption. Mongoose are using the D20 system for B5 though so it might be even easier to hack that.
