Clumsy me

Drawbacks of cutting yourself with a really sharp kitchen knife: You can cut pretty darn deep into your finger before you feel it.

Advantages of cutting yourself with a really sharp kitchen knife: The cut is clean and neat enough that if you just put on some surgical tape or a small band-aid to keep the edges together the sides will attach to each other quite quickly.

Yeah, I have a scar on my thumb from a time in college when I was playing around with a very, very sharp sheath knife and screwed up. Very clean cut straight to the bone, didn't feel a thing - so clean it didn't even start to bleed immediately and I could see the bone and the various layers of tissue...

I much prefer a clean wound like that, I've had 'tearing' wounds that were bad and they hurt like crazy, bleed profusely, and don't seal as well.
