First legal adoption by gay couple

The northern Swedish town of Umeå has, as the first county(-equivalent) in the country, approved that a woman's lesbian partner may legally adopt her son. Exactly this sort of adoption to let a family stay together in case of the biological parent's death was one of the primary reasons behind the legal change earlier this year that made it possible, so it's nice to see it actually happening. The adoption has not formally gone through yet, but since the adoption board has unanimously approved it it would be very strange (and probably a decent-sized scandal) if it didn't go through smoothly.

Hooray. Hope it all goes smoothly later, and gay adoption becomes more commonplace. Especially since the Finnish Parliament hasn't passed a simlilar law yet. "But Sweden's already done this" is the card we always have to pull when the legislation lags behind more civilized countries:P

Oh... we need that so much in Australia. Especially as the first damn thing we're going to do when Floria gets residency is start working on having children - I want a legal right to our future kids.
