Yesterday on the way home from work we stopped for gas. Since the last time we stopped at that gas station (the Q8 near Rissnekorset, for those familiar with Stockholm), they've installed a gas-filling robot.

Today I found out that the university I used to go to has a Master's programme in nanotechnology.

The world is turning into science fiction!

Yes, but haven't you noticed?

Whenever something which science-fiction fans have read and thought about for decades becomes real, the media will inevitably refer to it with the catchphrase "But this isn't science-fiction."

What does the robot do? Pump your petrol for you?

Yep. Open petrol lid, fill up with gas and close it again. There's a credit card box right by the driver's window for paying, so you don't have to get out of the car.

Does it actually work? The lid on my car for instance has to be opened with a key. If it works, it sounds great. It's not like I particularly like standing around on freezing, petrol-scented forecourts.

We didn't try it. But it must work well enough that they felt it worth to money to install, at least.
