You people out there also get H&M's Christmas pornunderwear advertisements, aren't you? Is it just me, or does this year's version look disturbingly much like the kind of crappy "lesbian" porn you can find lots of on the Internet? With the sickly thin women trying to look ten years younger than they are clinging to each other, staring fixedly into the camera with rictus-like grins plastered onto their faces?

You mean this sort of thing? (seems to require Javascript, doesn't work in Opera). Looks ghastly, they've been made up and lit really harshly, and it makes them look even more like bags of bones than they really are. So much for the camera adding ten pounds.

I wouldn't know about lesbian porn on the Internet, I get most of mine from you ;)

Exactly that, yes. And the porn I pronounce tend to look more like lots of little squiggly symbols, I think.

I feel strange for not seeing those images as *that* pornographic, especially when they've been made into such an issue at the moment. Perhaps it's because skeletons like that just don't look sexy;). I realise that the idea in the ads is definitely all about sex, but... ugh. There was a recent (or still continuing) ad campaign by a Finnish chain (I think they're just called Spl over there) where bitchy-looking women were wrestling each other in higly S/M-ish pictures--I found those way more straightforwardly porny than the H&M ones (which is why I think the Finn feminists complaining about the latter are being a bit hypocritical).

You're right about the ladies' age--they've deliberately chosen thirtysomething anorexics, how charming... what amazes me is that they thought they'd get away with it, those models are skinnier than anyone I've seen in H&M underwear/swimsuit ads before and the clothes just seem like they've been taped onto their ribs. Ugh.
