My friend Gunnar asked me if I wanted to play in his new Amber DRPG campaign, and of course I said yes. Amber is one of my all-time favourite games. This campaign (like all proper Amber campaigns) features a variant cosmology. In this variant, Amber itself is a steampunk world, and all the elders are the captains from Star Treks TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY. I managed to talk Gunnar into letting my character's parents be Kathryn Janeway and Seven of Nine :-)

My character isn't the most creative one I've made, by far, since I for once lacked any good ideas. He's a perfectly ordinary Amberite youth, who grew up mostly on Voyager with his mothers. A couple of years back he walked the Pattern and started wandering around in Shadow. In one Shadow, he found a very cute little redheaded girl clad in black leather, who he hit on and got into bed. He was a bit surprised when her face changed and she started drinking his blood... But he quickly adjusted to being a vampire, and actively relishes his newfound like of being extremely unpleasant to people. He and Willow (who got quite a boost to her own powers from eating an Amberite) quickly killed the Master and that pesky Slayer girl with the silly name, and are now well on their way to taking over that world (which is the Buffy Wishverse, if you hadn't guessed). Kendra was dull and broke when Willow played a little too roughly with her. Faith was lots more fun, and is now their chief enforcer (and playmate, of course).

Recently, someone somehow managed to pull Willow across to another Shadow, where she met a non-vampire version of herself and a more successful version of the Slayer with the silly name. We're planning to locate that Shadow and take over it too. Willow is so looking forward to getting herself as a playmate.

In play, Jean-Luc Picard asked us to go look for James T. Kirk and see what happened to him. We found a badly shot-up Enterprise, and followed the trail to a large spacestation by the name of Babylon 5. I had just had a nice conversation with a pleasant and helpful man called Morden when we quit playing for the day.

Sounds like an interesting scenario.

We'll see where it goes.

One of the more entertaining things yesterday in an unintented way was one of the other PCs, the son of James T Kirk, trying to hit on almost every woman we met -- and chosing, in order, Janeway, Seven, Ivanova and Winters :-) He didn't succeed very well. And as far as I can tell this player (I've never met him before) is entirely unaware of anything subtexty or slashy.

Sounds like you could have some fun with that one.

Morden is a very pleasant and helpful man. *rolls* He's so misunderstood.
