Well, that was Beltaine. Which means that [livejournal.com profile] jegra and I have now been acting as an HP-couple for a year. So far, I think we're doing quite well. Our initiates seem to think so too, which, after all, is what matters.

And now for a drive down to Linköping and back to pick up [livejournal.com profile] jennyaxe's new loom.

Damn - wish I'd realised you were into Wicca; I had Willow read out a blessing I'd made up as part of my ongoing BtVS / St. Trinian's crossover and couldn't get it "fact-checked" (if that's the right word) before I posted it.

Considering that very nearly nothing that Willow ever does (possible exceptions being staying away from the UCS fluff-pagans and using the word "Goddess" in the very last episode) has anything whatsoever to do with real-life Wicca, you're pretty much staying true to the source by not checking your facts :-)

I just adapted a grace for a meal I found on a Wicca site, seemed like the sort of thing she might make up in a hurry (the context is the beginning of a new school term):

"Thank you Goddess for a fresh beginning. We are forever grateful for your blessings in our lives. So mote it be."

Does that look OK?

Grace for meal...? Oh well.

The phrasing sounds a whole lot more like Californian eco-Wiccan than the traditional British variety I practice, but that's just a matter of different branches. WIcca is an extremely broad term these days. What may be more problematic is that that sort of pagan would probably spontaneously explode if they saw someone do what Willow does to the deer at the start of season six, so it feels a bit out of character to me to have Willow use it.

Thanks - I'm afraid that my total lack of religion tends to make me a little insensitive to these nuances. I'll try to minimise future references.

traditional British variety

Oh dear - I suddenly have a vision of the St. Trinian's girls deciding to experiment with Wicca using what they believe to be authentic rituals, based on e.g. The Wicker Man. Maybe I'd better not go there...
