We've been watching Ultraviolet, and just finished episode five. So far, the series has just kept getting more and more fun. It's sort of like Angel, except with far less superpowers, happiness and hope, and with much more cynism, bitterness, paranoia and cruelty.

Well, that too. And characters who act like people.

It's making we wonder what Ripper would've been like, if it had happened. If the Jossness or the BBCness would've won, like. If they'd managed to combine their strengths it could've kicked an unbelievable amount of ass. If they couldn't, it might have been just as unbelievable but not in a good way.

I think Ripper is still up in the air (http://whedonesque.com/?comments=3737#more). Or, I'm not sure it's entirely off the cards yet.

Ultraviolet was a Channel Four series; I'm not sure the Beeb would take a similar tack. Still, I guess we can hope.
