One of the headlines in the papers here today is caused by the publication of a study that among other things found out that among 4343 last-year High School (or, rather, our equivalent of it) students 1.4% had at some time or another been paid for sexual services. What seems to have surprised people the most is that more boys than girls had sold sexual services (37 against 27).

I wonder what the numbers are like in other countries.

I was surprised that they were surprised by this. At least when I was younger I certainly knew of boys who whored for money/drugs/attention. All boys from immigrant families though so maybe that's why it has gotten less press, who knows.

I would take those numbers with a large truckload of salt unless there is some way of checking the figures. Self-reporting surveys are notorious for being unreliable.
