You'll have to forgive me if it seems that all my notices here are about pretty much the same thing lately, but it does occupy a lot of my thought at the moment...
My dying friend has two kids. Fraternal twins, a boy and a girl. They're about eleven now. The girl is a near-rabid Buffy fan. So far she's seen up to the end of season three, and she's pestering me to let her borrow my fourth season DVDs. Which I'll probably do. And she'll watch them. In a couple of days, probably.
Then she'll want the season five tapes.
You know, the ones where Buffy's mother gets a tumour and then dies.
Exactly like her own mother is doing in real life right now.
Do I let her have them or not?

If she asks, tell her something bad happens to Buffy's mother, and ask whether she just wants to forget about bad things happening to mothers? Have you got other things to give her to watch/ read if she's just looking for distractions from what's going on? Tapes of Angel?
