Since I happened to be informed that a Star Trek: Enterprise episode was about to start and [livejournal.com profile] jennyaxe is down in Gothenburg, I turned on the TV and watched it (thus actually watching broadcast TV for the first time in months). It turned out to be episode 2:11 "Precious Cargo", according to TvTome. And it actually managed to impress me. It's been a long time since I saw something as thoroughly crap. Watching it felt like reading a C-grade Heinlein ripoff from the 1950s. I don't think there was anything in the episode that wasn't a tired old cliché, from the plot to the characters to the "alien" cultures. Amazing, in a revolting sort of way.

NMK. The female guest lead was pretty, but the spoiled princess character was so appalling that she was unwatchable anyway.

Although one can see why Salman Rushdie married her (the actress that is, not the character).

NMK.

I was just justifying the existence of Enterprise in general. ;-p

Agree 100% - that's one of the few Enterprise episodes I've seen in its entirity and it really is piss-poor.

I kept hoping that the woman was going to turn out to be the real villain and eat his brain or something.

It's got a certain trainwreck quality to it, don't you think?

Anyway, I watched the first few episodes of the first series, and gave up. Might have stuck with it if if it had been on after something good, but to make the effort for it on its own? naah.

But I did like the dog.

I stopped watching Enterprise after the first 10 episodes. It seemed ok to start with but then it was just the same awful boring Star Trek crap. Strange, I used to be a Trekker but with Voyager and Enterprise it just went downhill.

All my VOY knowledge comes from reading J/7 slash, so I rather like that series :-)
