Another 44 Firefly captures, covering the rest of the episodes. Which means Inara and the Councillor, more Saffron and some Nandy, among other things.

Great! I wonder, do you mind folks using these for icons? In specific context, I'm kind of tempted by the thought of using 'Christmas on Serenity' to make an icon with the slogan 'bitch in a box'. Also, 'friendly' is a very lovely image of Inara. ;)

Of course not. If I wanted to keep them to myself, I wouldn't put them on the web in the first place :-) A mention of where you got the picture from would be nice, but I won't get annoyed if you omit it.

Saffron's so cute when she's pissed off. And River is scary when she smiles.

btw, that game that Kaylee and River are playing looks like one I played as a kid, called jacks. A similar game was, according to some accounts, played in ancient Egypt.

Where did the Egyptians get the bouncy balls?

;) eunuchs?

Nah, the original version was played with sheep knuckles. Not known for their bounciness, they were simply tossed into the air. The game was called knucklebones, funnily enough.

Basically, you have five 'jacks' (the things on the deck between them). Scatter them on the floor, bounce or toss the ball, pick up one jack from the floor and catch the ball. Repeat, picking up two jacks per toss, then three, and so on. Then it gets complicated.

ooh, I just found something that said it used to be a divination ritual as well. That could add another layer of meaning to that scene.

Oh, is that what knucklebones is. I've only ever heard it referred to.

And yes, it certainly could. What with River obviously being mildly precog and all.

At my school, only the girls ever played it. We were still at an age where we didn't interact much with the boys.

Divination could explain River's mysterious face in the last capture - maybe she's sensing something, or sending her consciousness through the deck with the ball.
