Except people don't actually read the documentation, and when they do read it, they don't understand it, and when they do understand it, they'll write it wrong anyway out of habit.

Though I really must point out, that 'they don't understand it' is quite often because the documentation is extremely poorly written (says she who just last month finally found a C++ IDE with instructions that actually made sense).
