I wonder if writing up possible NaNo characters with GURPS stats would count as good, bad or crazy. And if I would actually use those stats if I worked them out.

I'd say anything that helps you know more about your characters is a plus. I use AD&D stats sometimes, myself.

I sometimes think up stats for my characters, but mostly in terms of getting them to be well balanced in themselves.
