Now that NaNoWriMo is over, I'm thinking of starting up that Iron Slasher Contest that I thought about and mentioned long ago (and that one person said they'd probably join). This is how I've imagined it working. Comments and suggestions would be appreciated.

  1. The contest is announced, with a theme. The theme for the first one will almost certainly be Buffy/Angel femslash.
  2. People who want to participate join [livejournal.com profile] iron_slasher
  3. A certain number of days after the contest has been announced (like, five or a week or something), the moderator (that is, I) posts three ingredients that must be included in the contributed stories. From the moment that post is made, the clock is running.
  4. As the participants finish their stories, they post them to [livejournal.com profile] iron_slasher. The community is moderated, so their stories will not be visible to the public at first.
  5. After the predetermined time (almost certainly one week) has passed, the contest closes. The moderator approves all posted stories, and creates a post that is a list of all contributed stories and a poll where every story can be rated on a scale from 0 to 10. The poll is open to everyone.
  6. The poll runs for another set time. After that time, the story with the highest average rating is announced as the winner, and its writer is crowned as $THEME Iron Slasher.

What do you think?
