Dr Who "The Parting of the Ways"

That was... pretty much fantastic, actually.



Lots of SF tropes with space and explosions and robots and aliens and stuff -- and the whole nifty lot of it powered by people's emotions. Believable emotions, at that. Jack's words saying he'd been much better off if he'd never met the Doctor while his face was quite clearly saying "But I'd never want it any other way than this", the Doctor tricking Rose to get her to safety, Rose's very heartfelt rant about doing the right thing when everyone else runs away. Even Mickey and Rose's mom came out well. I just loved the lot of it. Oh, and shiny Rose was way, way cool.

Considering I started watching this Who season on a "Well, at least it's not boring" note, it has quite spectacularly exceeded my expectations.

Yay! The season did get so much better as it went along, and I just really wish Christopher Eccleston hadn't been an annoying bastard by leaving, because he was seriously good. I wanna keep him!

And I hope Jack hasn't gone for good ::sulk::

When Christopher Eccleston signed up for Doctor Who, he made it clear that he only wanted to stay for one season. I think it's terribly indicative of how BBC didn't actually expect the new series to do this well, that they agreed to it. ^^;;

Yeah, I know - they should never have accepted him on those terms *sigh*. Really, the lack of faith in Russell T Davies is most disturbing!
