Does anybody here play Second Life? It sounds rather a lot like the fun bits of MUDding from days of old. Which probably means that I should stay far away from it, but I'm tempted to try it out.

Well, yes, that was the fun part of MUDding. I had a decent-sized area modeled after Lovecraft's Dreamlands on NannyMUD back in the early '90s.

I joined, but it was to much for my machine... the power requirements are no joke. it seems to be a lot of fun tho...

I've tried it now. On OSX, the client is about as stable as a house of cards in a bad wind. Add that to 250+ ms ping times, and it becomes pretty much unplayable. Which may be just as well.
