Institutionalized Vampirism

Today when I went out to lunch, there was a blood donation bus parked outside the usual lunch place. With [livejournal.com profile] jennyaxe's recent adventures in mind, I went in and registered as a donor. Which is something I've been thinking that I really should do for I don't know how many years now.

It still bugs me I'm not allowed to donate blood. I tried some years ago but showed antibodies for jaundice which makes me unfit as a donor. I've never had jaundice but the doctors claim that you only have antibodies if you have. Oh well, I've tried at least...

We'll see if they find something funny in my blood...

I gave blood on the Friday before Christmas eve. The eligibility rules are a little strange. My favourite is the prohibition on anyone who has lived in the UK for more than 28 days. I got a notice a few years back informing me that this would be the case as of (some date I don't recall). The notice then went on to say we encourage you to donate until then.
