How would an American (say, for example, a female USAF officer with a habit of travelling to other planets through a round wavy thing hidden under Cheyenne Mountain) refer to bottles of different sizes? More specifically, the kind of bottles that alcohol is sold in? For example, in Swedish a 700ml bottle of whisky would be a "whole bottle", a 350ml one a "half bottle" and a 175ml one a "quarter bottle". Are there similar names in the US?

Bottle and half bottle are the standard notations on the wine menus in restaurants for 70cl and 35cl. Quarter bottles of spirits exist, but I couldn't swear if they're called that.

A common size for spirits is "a fifth", i.e 0.2 US gallons. There are also pints, and quarts, the usual US sort.
Wine in the US does come in the usual 750ml size that the rest of the world uses.
