The military have finally told me that they don't want me any more. Which is not the least bit surprising. What is slightly surprising is that the letter says that according to the law you're only required to do service for ten years after the last time you did some, and it's been more than sixteen years for me. So it seems that I've been off the hook since 1999, it just took them a while to get around to actually telling me.

I got my such letter a number of years ago, but there was no mention about any ten-year rule. I wonder if that's something new?

Yes, it seems that paragraph was changed in 2002. Which still leaves a delay of several years.

Maybe it's their time for sending out those letters. J got one a few weeks ago -- only his said that they still want him. At least he's no longer placed as a driver.
