X-Men 3

We've just been to see X-Men 3. It was not good.

The acting and the effects are about as good as in the first two movies (which is no big surprise, really). The script sucks. Really sucks. fanfiction.net levels of sucks. If it had been a fanfic I'd found online, I'd have stopped reading halfway down the first page. The protagonists are way out of character (particularly Magneto, who's pretty much a weak parody of himself). The plot makes no sense. There are lots of characters without purpose. The dialogue varies between being stupid and making you cringe. Oh, and it relies heavily on clichés.

If you liked the first two movies, it may be worth seeing this one just to watch the characters and the effects. Oh, and there's some really juicy Magneto/Xavier slashbait.

Wow, this is the first really negative review of the movie I've seen. I didn't think it was high art or anything, but it was pretty much a comic book on the big screen. A pretty popcorn movie with the veil of a plot to tie it together.

Though I picked up on the slashbait too - I've been online too long. I also had impure thoughts about how Rouge just needs to get into a three-way relationship with Bobby and kid who saps the powers (Leech?) and her problems are solved. Kitty can join in if she wants...

I probably wouldn't have minded particularly if it had been a standalone movie. But since this one followed two surprisingly good movies the contrast was simply too strong.

I agree with everything you said. Especially the last sentence...
Even so, it was good action, I thought. But not what I was hoping for...or not as good as the first two.
