So I'm actually writing some fic for the first time in nearly ever. For that, I have a couple of questions that I hope you people can answer for me:

1) How many versions of Samantha Carter do we see on screen in SG1, and when do we see them? As far as I can remember there's the "main" one, one from Daniel's trip through the quantum mirror, one robot, one who came through the quantum mirror, one human-form replicator, one from the alternate timeline in "Moebius", sixteen(!) from "Ripple Effect" and one from the future timeline in "2010".

2) I need female mad(ish) scientists. So far I can only really think of Sam Carter and Washuu. Surely there must be more?

Would the Rani from Doctor Who count?

If I'd seen any episodes with her in them I could probably answer that.

Ah. That would probably help, yes.

Would Dr Plaxton count? I wasn't sure if you were including one-off characters, but then I saw you mentioned J'hadur (or however it's spelt).

Scully? Too long since I've watched any X-Files, so I can't remember if she is mad(ish) at any point.

Fred from Angel?

Plaxton is worth a namedrop, at least. And Fred is just about perfect.

1 Not a 'version per se but there is the 'Thera' implanted personality from Beneath the Surface. And how about Jolinar/Sam?

2 Toshiko Sato from Torchwood or Suzie Costello, same programme (but now probably deceased)

On-show deceased is an advantage from my current perspective, so Suzie works.

Thera and Jolinar-in-Sam... Hm. They're not variants of Sam, really, but other characters played by Amanda Tapping. At least mostly. In a way. Or maybe not Thera.

Good suggestions, in any case. Thanks.

I haven't experienced any of this, but reading your list, i had a warm, fuzzy glow. Ah, TV sf...

Anyway, Jake 2.0 and Knight Rider both involved female techs, which isn't quite the same, but still...

I think the episode "Ripple Effect" must have some kind of highscore, since it has one shot with seventeen different versions of the same character visible at the same time (the main Sam plus versions from sixteen other timelines).

Oh, and Dante from Fullmetal Alchemist also fits the bill. ;-)
