Warehouse 13
May. 17th, 2011 08:26 pmSo I just finished watching both seasons of Warehouse 13. It's a fun light-weight show. The description of it as a cross between X-Files and Indiana Jones with added humor is pretty accurate. And season two has H G Wells. It's been a long time since I saw as much good, old-fashioned subtext as there is between her and Myka. Yes, eventually they unfortunately do the "the bi woman is evil" thing, which is annoying and sad, but overall it was great fun.
Also, I can't remember seeing as incredibly slashtastic a season-ender since Xena. I mean, Helena has won. Artie and Myka are just blindly dropping down into Yellowstone, hoping that they'll find her in time to stop her. Which they don't. Helena is already there when they arrive. And as mad plans to wipe out civilization goes, Helena's is way better than average. Setting off the Yellowstone supervolcano? That'd work, no problem. And with the tool she has, she could do it anywhere within a radius of several miles. So the only reason she has not to just bang the trident into the ground as soon as she sets foot there, is that she wants to see Myka again. Which is further reinforced when Myka does the revolver thing. The only reason that Helena doesn't turn North America into an ash-covered wasteland and brings on nuclear winter is that in the end she can't bring herself to kill Myka (does anybody even doubt that she'd have pulled the trigger in a split second if Artie had tried the same thing?).
And then it gets even better when Myka can't deal with having done what she did to Helena, so she resigns and leaves the Warehouse.
Damn. Now I have to go find some long, angsty H.G./Myka fic.
