W/A story has been sent to betareader.

Driving practice sucked. I've never been any good at that funky "coordination" stuff :-(

Tomorrow I have to leave home at 7:30am rather than my usual 9:30. On the other hand, I'm not going to the office and I think we'll start travelling home again around twoish.

We'll be moving around in the office again. I just got the suggested placing chart, and it looks like I get a pretty good place and the wife (if she gets back here) gets a really good place. She'll also be as far as physically possible from the primary loudmouth, which is good.

Not hugely connected to much that you've written above, but I finally got a chance to read Duet for Rebel and Youth over the weekend, and I thought it rocked! The final image will linger rather a lot... I had to reread the final bits two or three times: "Has he just done that?!? I can't believe he's just done that!!"

Driving lessons suck full stop. I hated learning to drive, every single minute of it. Eventually I gave up and went back to using buses, which is now (just about) a feasible option in this town.

The ending of "Duet" and the possible interpretations of it was the subject of a thread on Freedom City some months ago. It felt really, really strange reading that thread.

Unfortunately I need to be able to drive. My wife has a chronic illness (endometriosis) that's very painful, which means that she gets tired very easily, which means that public transportation mostly is not an alternative. Most days she can drive, but not all days, which makes it difficult to plan trips longer than a day. So, I need to learn to drive.

I didn't see that thread - I've not been on FC for a while now. Tell me more about it at Redemption (I know that people worry about having FC content passed around online).

Your poor wife, I'm so sorry to hear that.

We are indeed very lucky that we're able to get on fine without a car. I'm sure we would do more excursions if either of us were drivers, but we're lucky enough to have a semi-decent bus service, and the funds to get taxis when we're really stuck.

My fingers are crossed that the driving easier for you.

Not that much to say, really. Some people were firmly convinced that Tey fires and others were equally convinced that she doesn't. It hadn't even occured to me that one could read it more than one way.

As long as we're around Stockholm taxi works fine. It's not so fine when we want to go visit her mother who lives 500 miles south of us...

Oh, well, I thought there was absolutely no doubt that Tey was going to fire.

No, a 500 mile journey is not feasible by taxi (and taxis ain't that cheap anyway). I know Brits complain constantly about the rail network in this country, but I sometimes I wonder if we're a lot more spoiled than we realize.
