In an effort to get out of the flat and do something other than sit around and read or play computer games, the wife and I went and saw Chicago. Nice movie. Liked the songs. Liked the plentiful slashbait. Like the dance numbers. Liked the cynical depiction of trials. Catherine Zeta-Jones did a pretty good job of playing Velma Kelly, but I really would've liked to see Jaqcueline Pearce anno 1985 or so do that part. She would've been absolutely perfect for it.

Date: 2003-04-07 02:58 am (UTC)The stage production (saw it last Saturday) is pretty good too, but more as an abstract theater experience than as a storytelling show - the stage play is somewhat disjointed in places. Having seen the film, I was OK at knowing what was going on, but without the film I would have struggled to understand a coherent story out of the stage show. Neat costumes in the stage play.
