In an effort to get out of the flat and do something other than sit around and read or play computer games, the wife and I went and saw Chicago. Nice movie. Liked the songs. Liked the plentiful slashbait. Like the dance numbers. Liked the cynical depiction of trials. Catherine Zeta-Jones did a pretty good job of playing Velma Kelly, but I really would've liked to see Jaqcueline Pearce anno 1985 or so do that part. She would've been absolutely perfect for it.

My favourite scene is when the lawyer is manipulating the press. That was the point where my opinion changed from "eh, a musical, all right..." to "I like this film".

The stage production (saw it last Saturday) is pretty good too, but more as an abstract theater experience than as a storytelling show - the stage play is somewhat disjointed in places. Having seen the film, I was OK at knowing what was going on, but without the film I would have struggled to understand a coherent story out of the stage show. Neat costumes in the stage play.
