After almost two months of fruitlessly trying to get anywhere with "Sex and Violence", I decided to let it be only that which should have been the end of "Pornoverse" and continue the story in part six. That'll let me skip over a few really dull bits in between. I think. So anyway, part five of the Annals of the Librarian Attack Force is now available. It's fairly short, at just under 8000 words.

It started with an off-hand comment, of course: "Jenna got really badly treated by the writers of Blake's 7. She should have complained."

So where does a character in a TV series go to complain? Why, to the complaints department. Where she may, of course, meet other characters who are also there to complain. Some time later, Is This the Complaints Department? saw the light of day. It's a shortish story (4300 words), heavy on the sex and the silliness, and light on the plot. It features Jenna from B7, Ivanova from B5 and Gabrielle from X:WP. It ends with Jenna and Ivanova deciding to leave their respective series' (which they did, Jenna at the end of B7 season two and Ivanova at the end of B5 season four) and look for new jobs. They end up with a (fictional) series called Librarian Attack Force.

Fast-forward a few months, and another offhand remark: "Meta-level fluff is good. Meta-level fluff has the promise of Faith/Servalan".

Which, for some reason, gave me the idea to write about that Librarian Attack Force thing I'd mentioned back in Complaints. So I started writing, with the intention of doing some trivial Faith/Servalan smut.

For some reason, the words just poured out. The first part, Recruiting, ended at a bit over six thousand words, but by then I knew that the story was far from over. Over the next few months, I wrote parts two (Rogue Slayer, Fighting Bard), three (Finding Faith), three and a half (Miss Rosenberg, I presume?) and four (Pornoverse). With part five, the lot of it is just under seventyfive thousand words (74783, to be precise). Near the beginning of part two the Faith/Servalan plans got tossed out, because in my internal playacting Gabby and Faith insisted that they wanted each other. Literary-wise, it is a love story with an action story wrapped around it.

It's still not finished, but the parts are fairly self-contained (except the last two). At the moment, I think the current storyline will close with part six or seven.

While the whole of it pretty much is the Crossover From Hell, prominently featuring characters from B5, B7, Xena, Buffy, Voyager and Bubblegum Crisis, it is written so that it should be enough to be familiar with only one of the featured series to enjoy the story. Judging from comments, it succeds quite well at that. If you know Gabrielle and Faith, that is definitely enough.

Um, well, if you know Gabby and Faith and you enjoy explicit f/f smut, that is. From time to time, there is a lot of f/f smut. One reader commented on Pornoverse that is had too much smut. Since said reader is a hardened slash-writer, I'm almost proud of that. But only almost.

Anyway, if this rambling got you curious, you can find the stories at cyberPoMo.

And now on to Alicamel's Spike/Delenn challenge, which I seem to have decided to have a stab at. It makes a natural sequel to the Buffybot/Delenn thing...
